I recently took a course on illustrating children’s books. I chose a storyline about a boy who finds a penguin and rows it back home to Antarctica. The work process involves character development, creating a storyboard and book dummy before then finalising the illustrations. It was interesting and rewarding to follow through. Story books do require plenty of work, and their challenges include maintaining consistency over the entire story as well as creating original compositions. So, you can definitely appreciate picture books as an art form!
